Having voiced our concerns about George's poor level of care, made numerous complaints to the ward managers and logged PALs reports we thought it best to explain our frustrations to the consultant.
We were concerned about the level of disconnect between the consultants and nursing staff and that plans made by the consultant were not followed.
He was upset to hear it and explained what his plans were and what his handover had said. Obviously this wasn't what had transpired and we were told, WELCOME TO THE NHS!
We are parents in turmoil and despite the happiest of pictures we post on the socials, they are often so far removed from reality.
We are desperate as a family to try and make memories. We don't usually take lots of photos, but George's socials are ensuring we now take lots more than we ever would. It is also allowing us to share our journey.
We like to preserve George's dignity but feel people need to know the truth even if the photos don't always portray it. We just need to ensure we have plenty of happy photos as we know that sadly the reality is that one day, they are all we will be left with.
We will continue to shares George's journey and we will fight to ensure that other families don't experience the same.
